Carnaval Brasil! Discovering Brazil’s Music and Folklore

Zona Sul is comprised of a group of musicians, mostly from Rio de Janeiro, who play Samba and Bossa Nova, as well as some indigenous rhythms (Batucada, Choro, Axé, etc.).  During this presentation, Zona Sul will seek to impart a love and respect of Brazil’s rich musical legacy.  Participants will learn basic information about Brazil’s history, customs, people, and landscape. Zona Sul will teach participants fun phrases in the Portuguese language, give demonstrations on various Brazilian percussion and instruments, and culminate with the Samba Dance.
